Department of Political Science

Bholanath College, Dhubri was established on 16th August, 1946 to cater the needs of higher education of this educationally and economically backward area of the western part of Assam. At the initial stage, there was no department under the caption of Political Science. Civics was taught in the then I.A. Course under the department of Economics since its inception in 1946. Political Science in single paper was started in B.A. Course under the department of Economics after two years. The Education Commission constituted in 1960 for reorganizing subjects and syllabus under the chairmanship of Dr. Harish Goswami, the then Principal of Cotton College, Guwahati was presented a representation for opening separate department of Political Science in the colleges of Assam. As a result a separate department of political science came up in the session 1961-62 in B.N. College, Dhubri under the headship of Sri K. N. Nath.

OBJECTIVE:

 The objective of the Department is to impart knowledge of Political Science to the students and to help them to be acquainted with various theories, concepts and issues related to the subject.

VISION:

The vision of the Department is to uphold human values among the students and uplift socio- political consciousness among them.
